Christ is the perfect example of love; we need to make sure our children understand the pure awesomeness of what He has done for us. God sacrificed all of heaven to come down in the form of Jesus and die for our sins. We don’t deserve it, but God cares for us individually, no matter what we do. Jesus is the definition of love. So it makes sense that teaching about love should be accompanied by teaching about Jesus. You can do this by reading Bible verses with the kids, praying with them, or even by just bringing him up in everyday conversation. There is no unteachable moment, and there is never a bad time to love.
“Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.” Matthew 19:13-15
